Children's Rights

Does every child have the same rights, everywhere in the world?

Ideally, yes. But the reality is often different. Every day, millions of children have their fundamental rights violated. At A.D.E.L.F.E (Adoption et Droits des Enfants pour une Liaison Familiale et Équitable.), we fight so that every boy and every girl, without exception, can grow up safe and fulfilled, protected from abuse and violence.

Children's Rights

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child

Convention des droits de l'enfant

Adopted on November 20, 1989, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is a historic milestone. It is the most ratified treaty in the world and recognizes children as individuals in their own right, with fundamental rights and the capacity to express their opinions.

The UNCRC consists of 54 articles that cover all aspects of a child's life and three optional protocols. It establishes four fundamental principles that guide all actions for children:

  • Non-discrimination : All children, without distinction, have the same rights.
  • Best interests of the child : All decisions must consider the optimal well-being of the child.
  • Right to life, survival and development : Every child has the right to grow and develop to their full potential.
  • Participation : The child has the right to express their opinion and to be heard on matters that concern them.

Every year on November 20, World Children's Day reminds us of the importance of these principles and the road ahead to guarantee them for all.
